Beer and wabbits

Ey up cockers. How's things? I have VERY NEARLY finished the huge commission that I have been doing for what seems like forever, but what is actually about four weeks. I am very excited about finishing it, it's been super fun making all these different people, and they are all so interesting and quirky. But I will be relieved to have got it done. I'm looking forward to posting photos of them after Christmas! You guys are gonna shit!

Anyway, I made a monster a few weeks ago which I'm going to show you now. You guys are gonna shit! Not really. It was for a lady at work, and I owe her a fiver, and I keep forgetting. It's her son. Here he is on the pavement outside my office:

I don't actually know what his name is, oops. But apparently he loves Red Stripe.

Gulp, gulp. Here he is having a good old swig.

Mint. Okay, that is it for now. Oh! No it isn't. I have new flyers, thanks to Nic. They are this.

Yay Garth! I need to cut them and then I will do precisely nothing with them. Hurrah! I have taken my Etsy address off because I don't have an Etsy shop any more, I decided to close it. I am too scatty and disorganised, and I sold one thing on Etsy ever, and I didn't work out the price right, and I got annoyed and closed my shop in a huff. I may re-open it when I get my life in order, which I predict will be on the 12th of Never. In the meantime you can still email me with requests and any other nonsense you would like to send me! Right, I have to go to bed now! Night!

Complete mayhem

Hi friends! It's been a long time since I updated this, but I've been so unbelievably busy that I think my head's going to pop. I've got a large commission which I'm in the middle of. As it's a number of monsters for Christmas presents, I can't really post pictures of them, not that anyone is likely to 1) look at my blog in the first place, and 2) recognise themselves from the dubious likeness of their monster, but you never know.

Anyway, I thought I would check in and see what going down in blog town. Before I started the big order, I did loads of my knitted drawing. Remember that!? I started this to record the completion of the drawing, as it's such a massive longwinded project, and then forgot all about it after about three posts and started making other things instead. However, rest assured it is still in production (phew) and I took a few photos this morning to show you.

So I'm nearly two thirds finished, I've done three squares for the fourth row which aren't sewn together yet. I pinned them to my duvet, put one of them in the wrong place, and then spent about ten minutes panicking because I thought I'd lost one of the squares, which as it turns out, I haven't even made yet.

What do you think of the ladymonster? She's hideous in't she?

Aauuugghhh!

I don't know why I've got such an attachment to her, but I love her. I think she's brilliant.

One more.

So I'm pretty pleased with how this is turning out so far. I've still got loaaaads of monsters to make, so I probably won't get any more knitted drawing done for a couple of months. However, I'm startled by the speed of my work this week, I've been more productive than I was before I started working full time. It's cool.

Well, best get back to it, those legs aren't going to crochet themselves! Bye.

Valpuroo part deux

Hey gang. This evening I went round to Valpuri's house to do a We Are Your Friends photo shoot, and it was fun! Although I was starving, because I seem to have developed the appetite of ten men recently, but I have since eaten and I am ready to share the fruits of our labour with y'all.

We took a lot of shots in front of the red garage door, which I think looks ace because the only colour on the monster is red too. These are my faves, check it out you guys:

Int she brilliant! The one with the monster hanging off the door is kind of unnerving, but I like that they are smiling at each other.

The other good 'un:

Perfectly matching poses. Perfect. Thanks Valpers!

Yee hawwww

I have been a busy bumblebee this week. I've been making monsters obviously, but I'm also trying to get the knitted drawing done as well, so I've been feeling a bit overwhelmed, but it's all fun and games and I've had some great stuff to do.

For example:

This is And. He requested a quiffy hairdo, flared trousers and a pig's nose, so that is what I gave him. And why ever not?

My good friend Rachel had a birthday, moved house and got engaged all within the last month or so, so seeing as it was a triple whammy of an occasion I made her some monstery goodness.

This is Rachypompom.

As you can see she is the sheriff of Cooltown.

Now just look at the cowboy boots! I love these! They are (I think) like the ones the real Rachel wears, so that's cool too.

And this is Rachel's fiance Dave:

Aces.

Stray horse button - maybe Roger will recognise this, he gave me the buttons from a weird jacket about three years ago and I have NEVER had a chance to use one before. They are special.

Enough! I have to go now.

Hey!

So this morning, while I was complaining about having to do completely normal things that EVERYONE does every day, like GO TO WORK, I totally forgot about one of the monsters I made a while ago. To be fair it was 7am and I was only halfway through brew number 1. Anyway, this is the best one I think I've made so far, apart from possibly my dad's one.

Yeah, it's this.

It's Jim. He's Emily's boyfriend. He was fun to make. He wears ripped jeans and pirate bandanas and shit and has a sweet beard.

A story. About thirteen million years ago when Emily asked Jim if he wanted to be a monster, he asked if he could have an accessory. Specifically, a pallet. Not an artist's palette, or even a palate, but a wooden pallet. So I rose to the challenge! Yeah I did!

You KNOW I love making accessories for the monsters. It's fun. Also, I used to work for Chep UK for ages, a few years ago. If you don't know who they are, you need to be ashamed, they make pallets. My job was to take phone calls from lorry drivers who were trying to collect them from supermarkets and stuff, and who couldn't for whatever reason. Then I had to phone up the supermarkets and shout at them, then I had to phone the drivers back and say, okay just leave. It was the stupidest job ever. Actually it was fine. The hardest part was trying to explain to other people what exactly I did all day.

ANYWAY. In a sort of ludicrous tribute to my old job, I decided to give Jim a Chep pallet. Chep pallets are blue. Here's one.

In case you couldn't visualise a blue pallet. I am really spoon-feeding you guys. Sooo... this is what I came up with.

It's EXACTLY the same and shut up.

It buttons neatly onto the underside of Jim's arm so he can carry it around and discard it as he jolly well pleases.

Look how bloody happy he is.

Finding time

Okay so I just realised I haven't updated here for a long while. Then I realised I don't have any new stuff to update it with. This working full time malarkey is getting to me again. I seriously don't understand how anyone can do it, really. I mean, I know no one wants to go to work, but I am struggling to get ANYTHING done, and I'm super tired, and I think I have to work there til December, so I'm just going to have to get on with it and make more of an effort. Aargh, it's rubbish. The job is okay though. It's no eye hospital, that's for certain.

Anyway, I am actually going to be late for work if I carry on this whingeing, which I'm sure is amazing fun to read also, so I will stop. Here are some photos of monsters I have made for people over the last few months and not posted before:

Nic:

Debbie:

Bob:

Lucy:

Orla:

Hope you like them. I do have some non-monstery things on the go, but they are taking forever. I am planning some serious gettin' stuff done, so hopefully it won't take too long to get photos up! Right, gotta run! I am LATE!
